Francois Gemenne (Chairman of the Board of Directors)
François Gemenne is a professor at HEC Paris, where he leads the Master’s program in Sustainability and Social Innovation. He is also a senior research fellow with the FNRS at the University of Liège (Belgium), where he heads the Hugo Observatory.
He was a lead author of the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report, and also teaches climate policy and international migration at several universities, including Sciences Po Paris and the Sorbonne. In addition, he co-directs the Defense and Climate Observatory of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, alongside Julia Tasse, based at IRIS (Institute for International and Strategic Relations).
His research focuses primarily on the international governance of climate and migration. He has worked extensively on population displacement due to environmental degradation, climate change adaptation policies, and asylum and immigration policies.

Karen Degouve (Secretary)
Karen Degouve is a sustainable finance expert with 30 years of experience in the financial sector (capital markets, investment banking, asset management), of which 20 years dedicated to sustainability, climate and nature finance. After creating and leading the sustainable finance department of the French Banking Federation during a 3-year secondment, she has recently returned to Natixis, the international corporate and investment banking and asset management arm of French banking group BPCE. For 15+ years at Natixis, she held key roles in climate finance and impact investment. Her responsibilities included developing sustainable financial products and managing transversal initiatives, including the flagship Green Weighting Factor. She also managed the European Carbon Fund, a pioneer climate investment fund dedicated to clean energy and infrastructure projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Before joining Natixis, Karen worked in project finance for the Middle East and Africa energy sector and earlier in emerging capital markets. She is a graduate of business school HEC Paris.

Stéphane Voisin
Stéphane Voisin is the Head of Sustainability, Environmental, Social and Governance Research at Kepler Cheuvreux’s Research Division. He covers sustainability, as well as the environmental, social and governance sectors within transversal research.
Prior to that, Stéphane was the Head of SRI Research at Cheuvreux’s Research Division. He was an Executive Director at JP Morgan and at BNP Paribas and also held positions at BZW and Natwest. Stéphane has authored a number of reports on environmental, social and governance issues, environmental liabilities, carbon focus and carbon impacts. He has 18 years experience in equity markets and holds an MBA in Law and Finance.

Jérôme Courcier
Jérôme Courcier worked for 35 years in the banking sector, first at Crédit Lyonnais (as a corporate account manager, director of a retail and professional branch group, director of Crédit Lyonnais Montréal, and head of the International Financing business line), then at Crédit Agricole SA, where he served as Head of International Compliance and later as Head of CSR from 2009 to 2019. From 2022 to 2024, he was Senior ESG Advisor at KPMG France. He is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and holds degrees in philosophy and theology.

Mélissa Perez
Mélissa Perez is a graduate of Arts et Métiers, she has been Director of Engagement at the mutual insurance company Tutélaire since November 2024, where she is responsible for the ESG impact and sustainability of investments.
She was named a LinkedIn Top Voice in 2024 and previously served as Head of Sales & Advocacy at Carbon4 Finance.
She is also Vice President and board member of The Shifters, a climate-focused volunteer association of 25,000 members affiliated with the Shift Project. As Head of Engagement, she supports action-oriented efforts across project teams (700 projects), product development (3 platforms), and HR (onboarding). Finally, she is a member of the Stakeholder Panel at Orano, where she engages in dialogue with the board on ESG issues

Romain Poivet
Romain Poivet joined World Benchmarking Alliance in October 2022 as climate and energy engagement lead because he thinks that the necessary structural changes regarding how companies deal with decarbionization and climate adaptation challenges will only happen with a robust climate accountability framework that connect the dots between the best of voluntary and mandatory schemes. Romain is an engineer with background in environmental and industrial risk management. Prior to joining WBA, he worked for ADEME, the French state agency of ecological transition. at ADEMA he was involved in international standards developments, regulations and voluntary schemes dealing with GHG quantification of business and transition plans, for 13 years. After COP20 Romain designed what later became ACT. He further developed and coordinated the ACT Initiative since its establishment in 2015.
Romain Poivet
Cécile Martin-Phipps
Cécile Martin-Phipps is a sustainable development expert with over 15 years of international experience in energy policy, climate, sustainable cities, capacity building, and international partnerships.
She began her career as an assistant to the parliamentary and diplomatic advisors of the French Ministers of the Environment, before joining ADEME, where she led numerous climate and energy projects on the ground, notably in Africa, Southeast Asia, Brazil, and Turkey. She also worked in the private sector, developing partnerships for a company specializing in solar lighting and energy access in Africa. She was later appointed Director of Communications, Events, and International Partnerships at the International Solar Alliance, based in India, where she played a key role in building the organization and enhancing its international recognition. Since November 1st, 2021, she has served as Director of the Institut de la Francophonie pour le Développement Durable (IFDD), a subsidiary body of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

Guillaume Lorentz
Guillaume Lorentz has 20 years experience in the financial sector with major investment banks, including HSBC. After 5 years in market, model, credit and operational risk management, he worked in trading in Paris and London for 15 years, mainly on structured products for global portfolios. His expertise in finance has been extended to the field of sustainable finance, with a focus on energy transition and carbon markets in Africa.
After a postgraduate degree in economics and finance from Sciences Po Paris, Guillaume holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Paris VIII and a master’s degree in energy, finance and carbon from the University of Paris Dauphine PSL. He joined Sustainable Finance Observatory in June 2024.
