Finance ClimAct webinar: New tools for a renewed EU strategy

The Finance ClimAct project has just completed its first phase (March 2019 - March 2021), contributing directly to the implementation of the French and European policies for sustainable finance.

As the EU’s Renewed Sustainable Finance Strategy is set to be released, we invite you to discuss the results of our actions to date, recent progress, and challenges faced by the financial sector in contributing to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economic recovery. This event is organized as part of EU Green Week 2021.

The project gathers 8 key players* in sustainable finance in France who are contributing to the development of new tools, methods and knowledge aimed at:

  1. Supporting investments in energy-efficient and low-carbon industries,
  2. Taking into account the double materiality of climate change in financial management and supervision, and
  3. Integrating environmental objectives into retail investors’ decisions.

Join us on June 1st, 2021 from 9:00am to 12:45pm CET to learn more about our results, dialogue with project members, and hear from key players of Finance ClimAct, including 2DII’s Managing Director (France) Thibaut Ghirardi, Manager Samia Baadj, and Head of PACTA Maarten Vleeschhouwer.

Full program: https://event.finance-climact.eu/sessions?searchtext=&page=1

*The Finance ClimAct project is carried out by the Ecological Transition Agency, the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Autorité des marchés financiers, the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution, 2° Investing Initiative, the Institut de l’Economie pour le Climat, Finance for Tomorrow and GreenFlex.

2DII today announced it is transferring stewardship of the Paris Agreement Capital Transition Assessment (PACTA) to RMI, formerly Rocky Mountain Institute. PACTA measures financial portfolios' alignment with various climate scenarios, including those consistent with the Paris Agreement. Under RMI’s stewardship, PACTA will remain a free, independent, open-source methodology and tool, and will continue to provide the financial and supervisory community with forward-looking, science-based scenario analysis to help users make climate-aligned financing decisions. RMI will invest in scaling up PACTA’s usability and applicability in day-to-day investment decisions as well as reporting requirements.
