Sustainable Finance Observatory is an internationally recognized independent nonprofit think tank focusing on mobilising private finance for a sustainable transition. Indeed, aligning private capital flows with the climate and biodiversity goals is a precondition to achieve the implementation of Global agendas.  

Our mission is to support changes in financial practices among economic actors, helping them to align with the Paris Agreement goals and driving their impact toward a sustainable societal model. The think tank manages and analyses data, produces analysis, and provides expertise and advice on the financial sector and green finance. It builds its work on a pragmatic approach based on studies, tools, and methodologies that directly benefit financial institutions, regulators, and economic actors for high impact. Sustainable Finance Observatory focuses its activities including program, studies, research, capacity building, expertise, coordination of coalitions, data analysis on three core pillars: Transparency and Data, Research and Expertise, and Advocacy.  

Position summary 

We are looking for a Sustainable Finance International Partnerships Intern to support the Directors of the Think tank. The International Partnerships Intern will support developing Partnerships and Fundraising related to the various areas of expertise of the think-tank (Transparency and data, Retail investing, Impact Finance, Biodiversity, Buildings Energy Efficient Renovation…). 

You are aware of the challenges posed by climate change and the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. You firmly believe that finance must play a key role in driving the ecological transition and transforming our economic systems. You have initial experience through an internship or apprenticeship either in the finance sector or in the NGO/Public/ International sector, ideally in roles related to partnership building, including through multistakeholder coalitions and/or fundraising (answering calls for proposals etc.) 

 Main responsibilities: 

  • Assisting the Directors of the Think tank in developing partnerships in France and at the International level: preparing notes and presentation material, drafting minutes, identifying partners and opportunities ; 
  •  Assisting the Directors and the grant manager in drafting proposals to answer national, European and international calls for proposals: supporting the organisation of meetings, centralizing contributions from several stakeholders to proposals, drafting parts of proposals;  
  • This list is not exhaustive and may evolve based on the association’s needs. 

Essential skills and qualifications: 

This position requires : 

  • A master degree in business or finance or political science or any relevant field
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in both French and English
  • Organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Willingness to learn quickly and work autonomy
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite 

 Desired skills : 

  •  Knowledge of and/or a strong interest on issues relating to climate change 
  • Knowledge and/or strong interest in the topic of sustainable finance 
  • Knowledge and/or strong interest in the topic of international relations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to apply even if you do not tick all the boxes! 

We offer you: 

  •  A prime location in central Paris, situated within Palais Brongniart  
  • Meal vouchers worth 12€ per day, with 54% covered by the employer
  • Full cover of the public transport fees or a Mobility Package
  • Proposed salary package: 1100€-1300€ gross/month depending on experience
  • Possibility to work from home to be decided with the manager.
