This project lasts three years, and has been proposed by Stan Dupre (CEO of Sustainable Finance Observatory (formerly 2DII) ), who also has been nominated as convener of the working group.  Massamba Thioye (UNFCCC secretariat) has been nominated as co-convener of the working group.

The inaugural working group session occurred on February 8th-9th, 2017 in Angers, France in coordination with broader ISO meetings. For those unable to attend in person, an introductory webinar was hold on February 7th, 2017, at 3 PM CET.

This new process will create the first framework standard for assessing and reporting investments and financing activities related to climate change, including:
  • Alignment of investment and lending portfolios with the objectives of the Paris Agreement, and contribution of financial institutions to achieving them.
  • (potentially) Scenarios used in climate stress-testing and guidance on climate-related financial risks.
All stakeholders and especially those who are not involved in the standards community (e.g. from financial institutions) are also invited to take part, either:
  • Formally (through accreditation with national standards or liaison organization); or
  • Informally by providing feedback on drafts and attending ‘side’ technical workshops and webinars.
